The Power... Vienna Fine Art Print
Photography Fine Art Print "The Power" from the VIENNA Collection by Ira Golenkova Ferrero. Signed by the artist.
A figure of the fallen or revolting giant is particularly striking when strolling on Michaelerplatz. It is part of the monumental wall fountain "Power on Land" (German "Macht zu Lande"), which was designed in 1897 by Edmund Hellmer and installed on the right outside of the Michaelertrack of the Hofburg. The second well on the left is known as Austria's "Power to the sea" and symbolized the Austrian naval power. The figures were carved out of Laas marble while the red granite fountains were made in Sweden. At that time, the Habsburg monarchy ruled a part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy which until the collapse at the end of the First World War was the second largest state in Europe (after Russia). Documentary photography of Vienna.
