The Wall 75 Berlin Vintage Wood Coat Rack
The Wall 75 Vintage Wood Coat Rack from our BERLIN Collection.
Handcrafting process: The small artisan company "LumberPrint" handcrafts in their workshop in Essen, Germany, our fine art photography with direct printing on solid genuine antique wood from old buildings across Europe. We turn this upcycled wood with our photo art into exclusive wood oat racks thanks to the handcrafted hooks from the Retro series.
Wood history: on the back, there is a label with information about the origin of the wood. So you will know from which building in Europe your “piece” of vintage wood comes, what it has experienced and how old it is!
During just one day in August 1961 the tenants of the southern side of Bernauer str. were deprived of the possibility to walk across their own street: the street and the houses across it were from now on in West Berlin. Many started jumping out of their windows to the West, some of them lost their lives. A bit later the faсades of these houses were mured and tenants resettled. Afterwards, due to construction of the second, rear wall and the “death strip“ between the walls, these houses were exploded. The most fortified version of the Berlin Wall made of concrete 3,5-meter blocks was introduced in 1975 and is known as “the fourth generation wall“ or “the Wall 75“. Several luxury houses were constructed today on the abandoned site of the former “death strip“, but one part remained unbuilt and the Wall 75 untouched: an open exhibition reminds visitors of the former division of the street into two different Berlins...
