Photography Fine Art Print "Bernauer Strasse" from the BERLIN Collection by Ira Golenkova Ferrero. Signed by the artist.
The Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Strasse - the street that was tragically split by the Berlin Wall turning former neighbours into citizens of different countries with opposing political regimes. A legendary photograph by Peter Leibing "Leap into Freedom" was printed on the wall of a house on the eastern side of Bernauer Street to remind of those tragic days of the Cold War. Hans Conrad Schumann, a 19-year-old border guard of the GDR became one of the first defectors from East to West Berlin during the construction of the Berlin Wall in August 1961. Leibing's photograph was included in UNESCO's “Memory of the World” as a part of the collection of documents on the construction and the fall of the Berlin Wall. This photograph was exhibited as the main exhibition photograph during 13 personal photographic exhibitions "Berlin — the City of Change" within the framework of the Year of Germany in Russia. Documentary photography of Berlin.
